The Salesforce App for Outlook is currently in beta and requires a subscription to Salesforce Enterprise Edition (or higher). The app works with Mac and Windows and Outlook 2013 and Outlook Web App today. We are working closely with Microsoft to make the app work with new Outlook products in future releases. For users of legacy, on-premise versions of Outlook, the Salesforce for Outlook plug-in remains supported and the team is adding new features in every release.

Half of our users (75 plus) are utilizing Microsoft 365, cloud or web based, for their outlook, office programs, etc. My old school users who have Outlook (various version) loaded physically on their PC's, were able to download the Salesforce Outlook plug in and it works well. My fancy users who get to use 365, can't get the download to work. I know that I am missing a huge step, and have researched this for a day or two and can't seem to find the right white papers that instruct me how to make this connection. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hello Heather, Heather Lietz-Martinez
May be you can try this below link https://store.office.com/salesforce-app-for-outlook-WA104379334.aspx
This is great! It worked well! I was able to sync my 365 to my salesforce account easily. Thank you for the assistance. I do have another question: I don't believe I can search the salesforce system from my 365 plug in. It only seems to find if the email sender is in salesforce or not, and will let me add them as a contact. But any cases, opportunities or leads that are associated won't pull. Did I miss a step on syncing or is this a permissions error?

Hello, I am unsure if this thread is still active (I hope so!) I am trying to install Salesforce for Outlook on my computer and it is not allowing me to do so. Anyone knows how to get out of this problem? thank you!!
Hi Claire,
What version of Outlook are you using? Sandeep helped me with the Microsoft 365 plug in: https://store.office.com/salesforce-app-for-outlook-WA104379334.aspx Hope this helps.
Hi Heather! thanks for your reply. I am using Office 365, I can install the plug in and I get the little Salesforce logo added alongside the emails. However when I click on it, it tells me to log into Salesforce, which I do and then i receive this message 'Lightning for Outlook isn’t set up yet. Ask your Salesforce admin to set up the feature.' So basically it needs to be set up and I am stuck !
I was able to install it on the Office 365, but how about on Windows 10 and Outlook 2016 on the laptop or desktop?

Hi Matt,
This process is a bit easier than the 365 process (in my opinion). All you need to do is be on the computer with window's 10 and/or Outlook 2016. Close out of your Microsoft programs, and log into Salesforce. Got to your (or your user's) settings under your name in upper right hand corner of the org. Find the section that says 'Desktop add on's' then salesforce for outlook. There you will find a short video on the installation process that is helpful, and a current downloadable verson of the salesforce/outlook plug in. Click download and follow the instructions. Then open up Outlook and you will see the plug in bar on the righ hand side. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
This did not work. We are using Office 365 and also Outlook 2016. It seems to not allow us to use the Salesforce Plug-in on our PC's. The App is there but it will not start and run in Outlook. When I have a older version of the plug in things worked, now the Salesforce for Outlook is gone?
The long and short answer is that Salesforce for Outlook Plug-In does not work with Office 365 unless you pay a monthly fee for another App to make it work. Is that correct?
How To Install Salesforce For OutlookHeather Lietz-MartinezSalesforce Lightning For Outlook Download Pc
Hi Matt- No it should still work for you. I have the mixed outlook users (365 & Outlook 2016) and it does work. Once you download the Salesforce plug in to your users computers, you will need to right click the Salesforce 'S' of the plug in. Click settings, then change user. It will take you to an SF log in page. Make sure you change the log in page to a custom domain if that is what your org is using. Then log in the user. This should pull up plug in SF tool bar on the outlook page.
I have noticed that it doesn't work when I am logging into Outlook 365 via the Office 365 Website. The online version doesn't seem to work well.. but if you are using the program downloaded on your PC - you should be good
Clare - This should be an easy fix. If you are the admin, go to the Setup screen, then in the quick find box type in Lightning for Outlook. Then click settings, Then check mark the box that says 'enable lightning for outlook'. Then you should be good to go.

Heather, thank you for your help. I have the app downloaded on the PC and it will not load as I upgraded to the latest version of SFO. It is very frustrating.
